Barbie!

What else would a six year-old girl choose for her birthday party… Well, to me there are plenty of things that don’t scream PINK! but that’s just not my girl. Anything pink or Barbie is it at the moment, so we put together a Barbie themed cake together. She had a ball.

She specifically requested a 'two tiered cake' - see, what have i started!

We sat at the table together and drew cakes for hours. There were all kinds of extravagant requests – some near impossible, but I let her talk through them and draw them all. She loved the idea that she was actually part of the process…OMG! what have I created/started. LOL.

The brown was to show it was a choc-mud cake, then after explaining we were looking at the outside, it quickly turned to pink. I drew while she designed, then Lil'Miss coloured it in.

As you can see each design was colour themed and included the girliest frills, shoes bags and the 'must have' Barbie logo.

I love how much fun we had doing this. She loved being part of the decision making.

While my entire entertaining area was pink – something I can’t stand, I was quietly happy with this little cake.

I set up a Barbie box that i had made late one night while she was fast asleep in bed, complete with dress-up rack.

I printed out Barbie glasses - complete with eyes - and glued them onto skewers for props. Of course I had to have a go!
